THE ART OF GIVING

Giving well is an art in itself…

…not just beautifully and thoughtfully presenting a gift, but taking the time to find a gift that is special, perhaps unique, and a world away from the mass-produced items that are so common in our modern society. There is a move away from the instant, disposable tat that lines high street shelves, and this move is driven by artists, makers and artisans, providing a vast array of original, desirable work. As artist Sarah Duffield points out, “Your Secret Santa may be happy with comedy socks this festive season but the special people in your life might feel a little disgruntled if they receive a pair as well”!

Have a look at all the creative gift ideas in the current issue of ingénu/e magazine here.

The musicians of the Wild Arts Ensemble, playing on instruments similar to the ones that would have been around when Handel was composing his masterpiece, are directed by Wild Arts’ Artistic Director Orlando Jopling in this enthralling production.

Catriona Millar’s

Art Class, Eastbourne

There are very few opportunities to learn the traditional techniques of painting, particularly from an acclaimed artist, which makes Catriona Millar’s art class very special.
“We’ve had art students coming to the class to learn the basics of painting which their college no longer teaches. These techniques are centuries old and can be applied to oils and acrylics. It’s a pleasure to pass them on and help people develop their work,” said Catriona, ingénu/e magazine’s cover star for Spring 2024. Catriona’s art class runs every Tuesday 11am to 1pm in the beautiful St John’s Parish Hall in Upper Meads, Eastbourne, and is ongoing.
